Todayborday is Labor Day!

9/1/2025

I guess I should start this off by saying, yeah, I still don't have wifi. I had to immediately spend most of my last check on rent, hopefully I'll be able to set something up with my next check, considering I've already spent half of what a month of wifi would cost me just to keep my hotspot active. My roommate says he's "not that concerned" about getting online ASAP because he doesn't use much wifi, but then keeps forgetting he's on my hotspot when he's playing his mobile games that drink data like I do Dr. Pepper. So I'm getting it set up as soon as I can, no matter how concerned he is or isn't.

Aside from that, damn, am I glad it's finally September! August is always the worst month of the year for me, for personal reasons, not to mention that it's also the hottest month of the year. This August in particular was horrible because on top of my personal reasons for hating it, I also moved, was getting situated in my new job, and was worrying about bills and other expenses while I was still getting short checks. My first check this month should finally be the full amount I should be making every 2 weeks, I don't know why I was getting less for the same hours and rate for my first 3 checks, I think the school just calculates shit weird. I guess all 3 checks were technically paying me for August? At least I have today off, and am getting paid for it, but unlike literally every other workplace, the ISD required you to "request" the PTO for school holidays manually for some reason.

As for work itself, it's been going alright. Pretty hard to keep up with considering everything I had going on last month, but now that I should no longer be under a mountain of stress, it should start getting easier for me this month. The head custodian is kind of a nitpick, if he has anything to say about my performance last month, all I can say is I did my absolute best considering how stressed and exhausted I'd been all month, on top of all my chronic health shit. I think I had like at least 3 panic attacks, so that was great.

But hey, I should be getting on insurance here soon, so I can hopefully get an actual diagnosis for this fun new illness I've had since last year! I know what it probably is, I've had 2 different doctors agree that it's likely the cause, but the specialist said that since I'd have to be put under for the diagnostic procedure, in an actual hospital, it'd be too expensive for me to afford without insurance. So he said it "might" be another condition with some overlapping symptoms, which is easier to diagnose, and gave me some pills for that condition that only kind of help. I haven't been able to afford the $110 copay for a follow-up to tell him that, hey dude, these pills don't do shit, so I've just been taking them because they at least help like, marginally. Apparently one of my cousins has the same condition I (probably) have, so maybe it runs in the family? Anyway, hopefully once my insurance plan starts, I can go back to him and say, "Hey, diagnose me, jackass." I've been dealing with this for over a year, and according to all the sources I've read, it can get even worse after about 2 years. I'd prefer that it didn't, you know?

In less serious news, I've mostly just been playing a lot of Stardew Valley, Project Diva, and Alice: Madness Returns while I've had limited connection. I wish I could play Splatoon, but it'd use way too much data to be sustainable until my next check. I also got back into fiddling around with Synthesizer V. I posted my first ever cover, Digital Girl feat. Teto Lite, on my Soundcloud a while ago, it's one of the links I'm planning on adding to the Kreative Korner. Currently, I'm playing around with a cover of Spoken For using Tsurumaki Maki ENG Lite. But the VB may change, I was also considering using Solaria Lite. I guess I technically could've just plug-n-played it by just plugging in the VB to the provided SVP, but A) that's boring and lazy, and B) it sounds pretty bad without tuning it for Maki Lite specifically. So while I am using the SVP that Flavor Foley provided, I'm going through and tuning the whole song myself by hand. It'll definitely sound worse than a professional, but it's only the second actual cover I've done, and I think for a beginner, it sounds alright so far.

I also really miss RuneScape, man. Once I get wifi and the money to reinstate my membership, I'm headed back to Gielinor. I haven't really kept up with recent news, though I've heard there's been quite a bit of controversy surrounding Jagex lately.

So I guess there's my bi-monthly update. Hopefully I'll be able to get fully online and updating the site like I wanted to in the next couple weeks. And happy Labor Day for my fellow USAmerican workers! If you have to be at work today, I hope you're able to get away with doing the absolute barest minimum amount of work possible. Because I'm sure your boss took the day off, huh?
Anyway, see y'all.
